Drop-in reception Monday to Friday, 8h30 – 12h30 / 13h30 – 17h30, all year round (except public holidays and exceptional closures).

Governance

A democratic association

The Centre Social de l’Hommelet is an association under the 1901 law, approved as a Centre Social by the CAF du Nord, with agreements with the City of Roubaix and the Département du Nord.

General Assembly

The sovereign body: it brings all members together every year to approve the direction and elect the Board.

Board of Directors

The governing body elected by members, made up of representatives of residents, volunteers and partners.

Residents’ council

A participatory space open to all residents of the neighbourhood to co-build the social project and suggest actions.

Our history

40 years serving the neighbourhood

1985

Founding of the Centre Social

Founding of the Centre Social de l’Hommelet association, at 121 rue de l’Hommelet, to develop participation, citizenship and links between the neighbourhood’s residents.

1990s

Developing family work

The first parent-child workshops and the opening of an Early years space. The Centre becomes a cornerstone of parenting support in the neighbourhood.

2000s

Expansion & new departments

Larger premises and the creation of the Seniors department and the local homework support contract (CLAS). The Centre strengthens its presence for all ages of life.

2015

A digital space open to everyone

In 2015, the Centre created a digital space for residents: a modern, well-equipped place open to everyone, to reduce the digital divide.

2022

2022–2026 social project

CAF approval renewed for 4 years. A new social project built around its areas of activity, co-built with the residents’ council. A cycle carried through to the end, which fed into the next social project and strengthened the Centre’s roots in the neighbourhood.

Growth

More than forty years rooted in the area

Over the decades, more activities and more people welcomed, working with residents and local partners.

Today

A committed team, a renewed project

A new management has taken over, with a committed paid team and dedicated volunteers. Together, they run activities in four of Roubaix’s priority neighbourhoods, guided by a social project renewed with each CAF approval.

The social project is co-built with residents, through the residents’ council, the annual general meeting and committees.

A neutral space, open to all beliefs. Mutual respect, freedom of conscience, equal treatment for all.

Solidarity pricing based on the CAF family quotient. Free social drop-in sessions, with just a family membership.
